25 weeks...15 more to go!

Today marks week 25 with a monkey named Kylie hanging out in my stomach. She really is living up to her "Monkey" nickname because I think she has planted trees in there and swings around on the branches on a daily basis. Tracked some kicks today, in a span of 38 minutes, she kicked 19 times! At this stage, it's impressive to feel 10 in an hour. She may not really be a monkey, but I'm starting to believe she might be a dancer. Hopefully not ballet though...it's kind of boring to watch. We can definitely hear her heart beat through the monitor my boss donated to us. Wanted to sing to her today, but with no voice...it posed a slight problem. My stomach is growing a lot, but so far no weird and mysterious dark line by the belly button...and I'm hoping I NEVER get one. That seems a little too creepy. Having some issues that may pose a problem with breast feeding, but we're working through that and think we've found the secret "cure." We finally finished the baby registering process, although I'm sure we'll add/delete things over the next month or so. We registered at Walmart, Target and Babies R Us. Seems like too many places to register, but I think my family overall shops at Target more often and his goes to Walmart. Sooo we needed the best of both worlds. Registering for baby stuff is weird. We asked for a diaper genie at all three places because we absolutely NEED one. If we get two of anything, we'll just exchange one. We did that for multiple items that we know we need...is that normal? Do other people do that? I figured it was good to do before Christmas in case anyone has a hard time with what to get us.

Officially ordered our new phones and they should be here tomorrow! DJ and I are both getting the Droid Eris. There was a BOGO deal this weekend that we just couldn't pass up. $50 each...and for that phone=wow. We're both pretty excited to get latest technology and play with all the fun apps.

DJ got his job as a manager at Waffle House and seems to really like it. Its hard work, but not rocket science. He's here while in training, but they are talking about moving us to Fayetteville, NC for his own store after Kylie is born. That's extremely nerve racking because if we stayed in Florence, DJ's mom was going to babysit Kylie while we're at work. The idea of a daycare scares the crap outta me. On a bonus, in 6 months to a year, he should get promoted to a district position, and at that point...I can more than likely stay home with Kylie. So luckily, this may only be a short term inconvenience.

Started decorating Kylie's room today. Got the letters for her name a week ago at Hobby Lobby 50% off so they were about $7.00. Painted them with three shades of pink polka dots...very cute! The larger picture frame we got on Black Friday for 50% off and we colored Disney characters, cut them out and placed them on top of different shades of pink paper.

The phrase on the wall is a stick-on that can be removed easily...so it was perfect for our apartment. It says "Everyday holds a possibility of a miracle." Also got these pink crates at Walmart for $5.00 each. Perfect for diapers and extra blankets!
Still waiting on getting bedding. We registered at Target and Walmart last week, and picked out some bedding we like at Walmart. If we don't get it, we're going to shop Ebay for some of their deals. Can't wait to fill this crib up!

The past few weeks

We decided to move a couple of weeks ago into a larger apartment in Florence. The entire move was rushed because of a time constraint placed on us by the apartment company. It rained, we broke a few things, etc. And by rain...I mean remains of a hurricane. Regardless, we were able to get through it and are really enjoying our new place. We've pretty much gotten everything set up. This past weekend we hung pictures, put up the Christmas tree/decorations and I put the crib together by myself in only 35 minutes.

Putting a crib together is pretty nerve racking. The thought that your child will be relying on your ability to tighten a screw...makes your stomach churn a little. But overall, the crib was ridiculously easy to assemble. It looks extremely bare because we don't have a mattress or bedding for it yet. But there is still time to get those details. Most of the major things are done. We still need a stroller, but that too will come with time.

This past Saturday night while laying in bed watching TV, I was able to feel Kylie's first stronger kicks. Ever since I began to recognize that feeling on Saturday, she hasn't stopped moving! I'm pretty sure she dances around in there non stop and may come out crawling. It's great to know she's healthy and moving around, but overall, it's very uncomfortable and awkward. I'm told to get used to it...because it will only get worse. I'm holding onto the idea that when she has less room, she won't move as much.

What's in a name?

After a very high stakes game of rock, paper, scissors....we have decided on a name! Kylie Ann Barrentine. Lately, I've been able to feel her moving around a little bit and she sure is growing! My sides and underneath her have been aching lately. From what I'm told, those are growing pains. Why don't they go over this stuff in 5th grade when they explain the mystery guest women receive once a month? I guess that's too much info at that age, but it would be nice to know what to expect.

DJ had an interview yesterday that seemed promising and another that is pretty much his...but they aren't looking to fill it until December at the earliest. Hopefully something will happen soon. I keep praying for a miracle, and I know sometime God will give us that. It will probably be a small Christmas as far as presents go, but it will be our first one together. Can't wait to decorate the apartment for the Holidays. I forgot just how much "stuff" I have to put out! And I have a feeling this year...no Turkey will go to waste (considering how hungry I always am!).

The picture for today's post was Kylie at 18 weeks, when we found out she was a girl. I'm now in the middle of week 20 and almost twice the size I was 2 weeks ago. Yikes! Hope everyone is well....

Decided to start a blog in honor of our new lives. This is mostly for my family that lives so far away so they will be able to see pictures of our new baby as she grows. Currently, we're 5 months pregnant and expecting a new baby on March 22nd. The last ultrasound shows that the baby is a GIRL! We've already picked out some very cute dresses and almost all the major items needed to get started. Now our biggest decision is where to live? We are definitely staying in Florence for awhile so that DJ's mom can watch the baby to save money on day care. We would love a three bedroom apartment, but will probably end up staying in a two bedroom because of costs. We are both equally excited as we are nervous for this new adventure in life. We're trying to enjoy our time together as much as possible since after March, our lives will never be the same. We are both looking forward to the challenge and grateful for such a blessing. We just have to finish finalizing a name. We keep bouncing between Kylie and Kaylie. Someday we'll figure it out. Keep coming back to see more ultrasound pictures and pictures of my every growing tummy! Til next time...
